Discount Calculator — Free Online Tool
Seeing “30% off” is exciting until you try to do the math in the aisle. Enter the price and discount to instantly see what you'll pay — and what you save.
What is the Discount Calculator?
Retailers love percentage discounts because most shoppers can't instantly compute them — which is exactly why a quick check matters. A “70% off” sign on an inflated original price can still be worse than a modest discount on a fair price. The number that matters is the final price compared to what you'd pay elsewhere.
Watch for stacked discounts too: “20% off, plus an extra 10% off” is not 30% off — it's 28% (0.8 × 0.9 = 0.72). And remember sales tax applies to the discounted price in most places, which this calculator includes as an option.

Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate 25% off $80?
$80 × 0.25 = $20 off, so you pay $60.
Is 'extra 10% off' on top of 20% off equal to 30% off?
No — discounts multiply: 0.80 × 0.90 = 0.72, so it's 28% off the original.
Do you pay tax on the original or sale price?
In most US states, sales tax applies to the discounted (actual selling) price.
What does 'percent off' mean?
The fraction of the original price you don't pay. 30% off means you pay 70%.
